The Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation and Grand Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa work together to fulfill the educational missions of Phi Sigma Kappa. The Foundation focuses its efforts To Promote Scholarship and To Develop Character to encourage our members to make positive contributions to society and all mankind.
The Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inc., a separate corporation from the Grand Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa, was founded in 1947 to promote academic excellence within the Fraternity by providing scholarships to worthy students. Since 1984, the Foundation's emphasis has been the funding of Grand Chapter educational and leadership programs.
Each year the Grand Council (the Grand Chapter's governing board) submits a program funding request to the Trustees (the Foundation's governing board). Based upon the Foundation's income projections, the Trustees fund as many programs as possible.
While both the Grand Chapter of Phi Sigma Kappa, and the Phi Sigma Kappa Foundation, Inc., are non-profit corporations, only the Foundation may accept tax deductible gifts from alumni and friends of the Fraternity. The Foundation thus serves as the fundraising arm of the Fraternity.
Each organization is a distinct, separtate corporation with independent boards of directors, investment accounts, and independently audited financial statements.
